To a suspension of lithium aluminum hydride (221 mg) in Et2O (10.0 mL) cooled to -40C was added methyl 2-chloroisonicotinate (1.00 g) in Et2O (2 mL) dropwise and the mixture was stirred at -4 0C for 30 min and quenched with water.
